Taking on a rescue Basset Hound is not the easy option.
You need to be prepared to help a confused and troubled Basset Hound find his place in your family. He has been through a massive upheaval and will need time to settle into a new way of life.
He may have separation anxiety, or a fear of sudden noises or strangers.
Certain events may trigger traumatic memories, the smallest things that may not make sense to you. Your new Basset Hound needs guidance, patience, training and above all unconditional love. If you can offer that to him he will repay you tenfold.
But please keep it in mind it will take more than a couple of days for your new Basset Hound to settle into his new home, especially if you already have a hound, it will take time for your new Basset Hound to find his place in the family.
At The Basset Rescue Network of Great Britain we are not behaviourists, we are just a small band of devoted rescuers doing our little bit to help. We do not claim to have all the answers. But we care deeply about every Basset Hound that comes into our care, so please be patient with them and us.
If you do adopt a dog from The Basset rescue Network of Great Britain and it doesn't work out after giving the hound a fair chance to settle, then of course we will always take the hound back and try to find a new home for him/her.
Please think long and hard before taking on one of our Basset Hounds. Our aim is to rehome once, to the right family.
Are you prepared to give a Basset Hound a new start and save a life today?
