 "Wilma is funny, energetic, responsive (mostly) to all commands, gentle, needy and very affectionate.

She steals everything given a chance and as she is so much taller than our other bassets! She has a much longer reach!

She is fine with cats as long as they don't run away because then it's all the fun of the chase. Our cat stood her ground, bopped Wilma on the nose and now Wilma pretty much ignores her. Wilma is a pleasure to walk, either on a short lead or on her extension lead. She will make the most wonderful pet for the right family.

She does need company all the time, either dog or human or she will find mischief! We have really enjoyed having her."

Wilma is looking for a home that includes the following;

  • Someone who is at home often, and loves cuddles!
  • An active family, for regular walks, physical and mental stimulation.
  • Patience and time to spend with Wilma in the crucial first few weeks as she adapts.

If you tick all the boxes above, and you feel you and your family are suitable to adopt Wilma, please fill in our online Adoption Application:

The Basset Rescue Network of Great Britain Adoption Application

Applications close on Friday 17th September - we will aim to email you within two weeks of applications closing.

Please ensure you read our FAQ's before applying:

Here we will attempt to answer some of the more frequently asked questions about The Basset Rescue Network of Great Britain and adopting a Basset Hound.

Taking on a rescue dog is not the easy option. You need to be prepared to help a confused and troubled hound find their place in your family. They have been through a massive upheaval and will need time to settle into a new way of life, so please consider this BEFORE you fill in an application.

Wilma is subject to an adoption fee and a successful home check. If your home check is successful, your family, including your resident hounds if you have them, will need to be able to travel to her foster home to meet her and her foster family.

You will also have a telephone call with a member of the team, plus Wilma's foster family, so that all of her history can be shared with you in person, and that we can be assured that you can fill all of her needs and requirements.

Wilma comes with 5 weeks free insurance via our rehoming partner, Agria.

Thank you for reading Wilma's blog. Please share where you are able.
