Tracy and Martin's next Challenge!

Our marvellous supporters and adopters, Tracy and Martin are at it again! They are undertaking another enormous walk of 40 MILES (their biggest yet!) to raise funds for us!

Please read on for their story, and please, if you can, donate a little to help us in our constant work to fund these very needy bassets. We are incredibly busy, and have some complex hounds in our care right now, so every penny truly does count.

"On 19th June, Martin and I will take on our biggest hiking challenge yet by attempting the ridiculous Lyke Wake Walk.

This is a 40-mile crossing of the North York Moors from Osmotherley to Ravenscar including 5000ft of ascent, to be completed in under 24 hours. To put that into perspective, that's Blackburn to Morecambe and then a bit further! Or Manchester to Sheffield. Or one and a half marathons! We will set out at 4:30am and would like to get to Ravenscar for last orders! 🍻 We will be supported throughout the day by the fantastic Weather Goat Walk Support team.

I'm guessing a few of you are asking why!

The simple answer is, we like a challenge. But more importantly, we felt that we needed to give something back to the fantastic charity that allowed us to adopt our Nancy basset hound. All charities are struggling due to the pandemic, but basset rescue network of GB is a small charity run entirely by volunteers, struggling to cope with the influx of "lockdown puppies" at the same time as reduced funds due to cancelled events. At the moment, there are over 30 hounds in foster care, all of which need assessing, vet checks, neutering, injections, flea treatments, etc before they can move on to their forever homes. And unfortunately, this number is only expected to grow!"
