Gill Dawes mammoth swim and giving up chocolate for a year

Our lovely supporter and foster mum has really outdone herself, setting herself a target of swimming the channel AND giving up chocolate for a year.  The swim has already been completed, and only 16 weeks left before she can gorge herself on chocolate!

Here's what Gill has said:-

I have chosen BRNGB because this charity is very close to my 💖 and I have adopted four dogs from them!

They have a fantastic network of dedicated fosterers and transporters who are all amazing. Funds are constantly needed to support the hounds who come into foster and your donation however small will be valuable.

Now....for those of you who REALLY know me will know how addicted I am to chocolate! I always give chocolate up for Lent which is six weeks but this part of the challenge means it's going for a whole year!!!

Am I mad? Yes..you could say that because alongside the chocolate challenge is my mammoth swim!

Now firstly I have to say I am SO unfit it's unbelievable!

I have a problem with my hip and knee and my gluteal muscle and haven't swum properly in nearly 5 years maybe longer!

BUT I am determined to swim the distance of the channel (in the relative comfort of a pool!).

I won't be completing it in one go obviously but aiming for 8-12 weeks..

I've joined a gym purely to use the pool but it is a small pool. So...21 miles or 33 km....2816 lengths of this pool starting this Friday 24 September!

And remember....every little donation really does help!
