Christmas Thank You's

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported our fundraising this Christmas. We know we've asked a lot from you, and we appreciate that this time of year is hard on all our pockets. You have, as always, amazed us with your generosity and kindness, from buying raffle tickets, Christmas cards and calendars, coming to our Christmas Party, supporting our auctions and not forgetting the many, many messages of support we received. We've said it before, but without you behind us, we could not do what we do, and we are truly thankful that you are behind us.

Christmas Party and Raffle 2017

What a wonderful time we had in our Christmas Party this year! Once again held in Northampton, and organised by Debbie Smith and her amazing team of helpers, they spread their magic once again and created a festive bonanza! Special thanks to Mandy and Steve Jaquest, Kirstin Frost, Anna Swann, Julie Cypher and Catherine Farmer for all their help!

Debbie...our amazing Elf!

We enjoyed an lovely buffet lunch, fabulous stalls, party games, and lots and lots of general houndy fun! Santa came for a visit, and each hound and child went away with a present. There was even a sausage bobbing game for the dogs to enjoy!

We had a HUGE raffle table, thanks to the many people who donated prizes, there are too many to name as I don't want to miss any out, but you know who you are and your donations are very gratefully received.

As always though, the best part was meeting up with everyone who came, especially for some of us to meet some of our hounds in foster for the first time. It's always great to socialise with other bassets and their owners, and this year was no exception.

We had a fabulous time and we are already looking forward to next year!

Our online Christmas raffle this year was an enormous success, with the best prizes we have ever seen!

Congratulations to our winners;

1st Place - Eddi Marshall - week's holiday in East Sussex

2nd Place - Dena Corden - Personalised dog bowl

3rd Place - Caroline Gibson - Pet portrait

4th Place - James Newman - Cuddly Basset hound

We can't possibly say thank you enough to the people who donated this year to make this raffle a success. Caroline Crellin, who donated the fabulous holiday apartment, Natalie Hancock who will make the incredible bowl, Yvette Gilbert, who will draw the pet portrait (we can't wait to see that!) and Angela Jones, who donated the fabulous sloppy stuffed basset hound!

Thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts.

The GRAND TOTAL of our Christmas fund-raising this year was an amazing £1,855!

Rolph and Clara's Fundraiser

Sally, one of our fundraising team, ran a hugely successful auction on our facebook page, with the most incredible basset items up for grabs. She raised a whopping total of £1,721.93!!! What an incredible amount you raised! Thanks to Sally and her team of helpers, including Jane who was doing the horrible job of checking the PayPal!

Northamptonshire Waddlers

Our wonderful friends who organised our Christmas Party are also a part of a waddling group called the Northamptonshire Waddlers. They have had waddles and events on throughout the year, and they fundraise tirelessly for us,  through their 'pound a hound' walks and raffles, to hog roasts! They have had their last walk of the year today and we are so pleased to share with you that they have raised a massive £1,213! That is an incredible amount from a small group of people, and we are absolutely overwhelmed! Thank you to all of you who have supported us, thanks to you, our work can continue.

Here's a photo of Blake, one of their pack, who has been waddling with them since he was 8 weeks old! (in a pram in the beginning!!)

So, as Christmas draws ever closer, we would like to wish you, your families and your hounds a wonderful Christmas. May it be full of love and laughter, and for our friends suffering the pain of bereavement, may you feel safe in the knowledge that love crosses all bridges, even rainbow ones.

Merry Christmas, from us all here at Basset Rescue Network.
