Beautiful Pumpkin looking for a new home

APPLICATIONS CLOSED

Age - 2 years old

Sex - Female

Location - Staffordshire

Roll up, roll up folks, come and read about the beautiful Pumpkin.  She is 2 years old, lemon and white, stunning girl.  Whilst in foster she's been a bundle of fun never a dull moment

Pumpkin would suit a family with children 10 upwards as she can be very boisterous with any children younger.  She has lived with 4 cats, but again can get lively while playing with them.  A firm no will suffice.  She adores people but much prefers females and will follow you everywhere in the house.  Be prepared to never visit the bathroom alone again!

Pumpkin doesn't' like the hoover and will follow you around to make sure it is behaving.  She sleeps with you on the bed, once there she doesn't move all night and hogs the duvet if you're not careful.

She is fully house trained will let you know  when she wants to go out but please note this girl is a diva will only piddle on grass.  She loves to counter surf and is a bin raider, nothing is safe.  You need to have eyes in the back of your head with her!

Pumpkin's appetite is fab, she will eat anything....literally!  She also adores a cuppa.

Pumpkin has got on brilliantly with our resident Basset ,but please be aware this girl can be reactive with other dogs while out walking.  If they are basset or beagle she's fine.  However when encountering dogs she will lunge forward. We use a firm no she will then sit down and wait for a biscuit.  This is an ongoing situation which needs to be worked on with positive reinforcement.  BRNGB will of course provide any assistance and advice needed in this training.

Pumpkin walks well on lead but will start to bounce like a kangaroo when she wants to play.  Again a firm no stops this.

She also can be wary of people wearing caps and hoods, she doesn't like anything with feathers and will try to chase.  She's happy to watch through the window which she loves to do so be prepared for nose art.

Pumpkin travels well in the car and will let you lift her up to get in.  She loves to play with a ball, or if given the chance to grab a sweet and throw it around ,eventually she eats it.

Pumpkin has been an absolute joy to foster, she loves life and people.  She most amazing cuddles so whats not to love?   Give the girl a chance.

Pumpkin is looking for a home that includes the following;

  • Someone who is at home more often than not and prepared to put in the time to help her settle and learn further
  • Someone who is prepared to work with on going training whilst on lead using only positive reinforcement methods.  BRNGB will be able to assist with this.  We do not agree with any negative training methods.
  • A home with a patient, playful resident dog or no resident dog
  • An active family, Pumpkin loves a walk, and needs physical and mental stimulation
  • Patience and time to spend with Pumpkin in the crucial first few weeks as she adapts
  • We do not adopt to households with children under the age of 5 however, we would recommend Pumpkin is not in  a home with children under 10 as she is very bouncy

Taking on a rescue dog is not the easy option. You need to be prepared to help a confused and troubled hound find their place in your family. They have been through a massive upheaval and will need time to settle into a new way of life, so please consider this BEFORE you fill in an application.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

Pumpkin is subject to an adoption fee and a successful home check. If your home check is successful, your family, including any resident dog will need to be able to travel to her foster home to meet her and her foster family.

You will also have a telephone call with a member of the team, plus Pumpkin's foster family, so that all of her history can be shared with you in person, and that we can be assured that you can fill all of her needs and requirements.

Pumpkin comes with 5 weeks free insurance via our rehoming partner, Agria.

Pumpkin as with all of our hounds will have full rescue back up for life.

Applications close at 7pm on Thursday 3rd March 2022

Thank you for reading Pumpkin's blog. Please share where you are able.
