The National Pet Show and other stories!

Well, we have been busy! There is such a lot of news to get round to, we're just going to get right on with it!

The National Pet Show - ExCel Centre, London

Oh my, we were so excited when our friend Sally asked if anyone could attend this event and show off our beautiful hounds! We jumped at the chance, and together with our very good friend, Genny, hopped in Sam's bus and drove through early morning London, to get to the ExCel. We were all really looking forward to it.

So, let's start with who went. There were 4 humans, Sam, Sam, Genny and me (Louise) plus Shirley, Penny, Cassie and Betty. We were having a Ladies Day! Poor Becky was going to come with us too, with her dog Lola, but unfortunately she wasn't well enough. We had to find our area where we could get set up with our information, and our hounds, before the public came in at 9:30. Our remit was to talk about Basset Hounds (east for us!) and why they make the best ever pets! (We did have to mention some of the bad bits too...but most people were so enamoured of the dogs, they didn't really listen!)

The dogs were AMAZING

They sat there, at the front of the stall, and they let everyone smooth and pat them, we were so busy all day! We only used the pen when we needed to eat, not one of the dogs needed it. We didn't have a grumble from any of them really, and the public really took to them! We certainly got lots of kind remarks and great feedback from the public. We (of course) managed to get the rescue side of it in the conversations, so it was a real success on all counts! Considering there were many other breeds there, we were really thriled at the level of interest shown to us.

All the dogs (and humans) were absolutely shattered by the time we got home!

Sally, Michelle and Janice took the helm on the Sunday and they told us that their day was just as busy and the feedback was brilliant! So, all in all, I think we all did a wonderful job of promoting our beloved breed at the National Pet Show!

Betty's Update

We want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for all your generous donations for Betty and her heart. Betty is now living in Bristol with her new long term foster family, Deborah and Julian, plus her very own BRNGB sister, Daisy. They are getting on well!

BRNGB

She has had her heart scan and early indications show it is not as bad as first thought. She is not on medication at the moment, but will be frequently monitored and as soon as she needs them she will be on them. Your donations paid for her heart scan and thorough check up, with a small amount left over, which we have put in her pot for when she needs it.

We hope this beautiful, lively lady will have the best life ahead of her. It's certainly off to a good start, thanks to your generosity.

Marathon Man

BRNGB

Only last year, our big friend of BRNGB, Martin Puddifer did a sponsored 10k run for us! Well, this year he is doing the Eden Hall Newark Half Marathon...all in aid of us! His Just Giving page is all up and running, use the link below to sponsor him. He's really challenging himself this time, so we think he's definitely worth a sponsor! We hear he's training really hard! Both Martin and his gorgeous wife Rachel are massive BRNGB supporters, Rachel's mum adopted Daisy from us, and Rachel and Martin have their rescue basset, Elbee, so they really understand and value the work that we  do. They provide invaluable support to us, so we'd really like to see him reach his target. Pop over to his page and read his story.

Sue's Tough Mudder

 BRNGB

Massive congratulations to Sue Black, who completed the Tough Mudder course! It's no mean feat, this course, so we were all really proud of her. Her determination paid off, and she donated £100 to us! Many thanks to all who sponsored Sue, hopefully she is having a good rest now!
