We have so many fantastic supporters here at BRNGB it's hard to know where to start, apart from our fabulous team of fosterers, transporters and home checkers, we also have many people behind the scenes who keep us going!
We take in basset hounds that need major veterinary interventions, and therefore funds are always in desperate need. Without people to organise events and put themselves through sponsored physical challenges, we wouldn't be able to keep on taking these hounds.
Here is Sarah's story.
Sarah Bradshaw is part of Welsh Basset hounds, and her and her husband Jon are owned by the stunning Betty. Sarah and Jon came to the National Pet Show in Birmingham last year, and she arranged a series of events with her colleagues at work to raise valuable funds. Here is her story;
"I got Betty, my first basset, last year, and from the time she could walk she's been attending BRNGB events and local waddles. I've read and heard so many sad stories of basset backgrounds which, thanks to a whole bunch of selfless people, now have happy endings.
This inspired me to do something to help, and "A Pound For A Hound" was born. I organised a bake sale and raffle in my department in work with the aim of raising £50. I also organised a fundraising local waddle and raffle to help raise donations. I absolutely did not expect the amount of support that I got! My departmental bake sale turned into baking for an entire building! I had people contacting me wanting to help, people actively promoting the event on my behalf and donating raffle prizes. The waddle was also a success - I charged each family a £1 attendance fee and sold raffle tickets for which I also received prize donations. In total the two events raised £216.40 which the company I work for matched, so a huge £432.80 has been donated to BRNGB!!

Fun at the waddle
I would strongly recommend anybody checking if their company offer a charity match scheme - it really can make such a huge difference!"
We'd like to say a massive thanks to Sarah for her hard work in raising such a great amount!
Another one of our heroes is our good friend Martin Puddifer.
He's now run 3 sposored half marathons for us, for which we are incredibly grateful. Martin and his wife Rachel have supported us from the very beginning, when we were just starting out, and have become not just great supporters, but fabulous friends too! He's raised hundreds of pounds for us over the last few years, and we'd like to thank him from the bottom of our hearts. This year's run made over £300 which is a wonderful total!
Thank you Martin!
Our lovely Sam Morgan, together with her husband John, opened up their house on the 9th September to host a Garden party. The weather wasn't the kindest it could have been, but thanks to their new gazebo, the day was saved! It was lovely to see so many of our friends, and for us, a chance to meet in person a few of our adopters we hadn't met before!

We even had a 'Men's Corner'!!!
Our foster bloodhound (yes, we know..... not quite a basset but nearly!) stole the show! And our long term foster Bob behaved impeccably.
For little foster Floyd...it was all a bit much in the end! After a good play he was worn out!
Even with the odd monsoon, she raised nearly £100, so well done for everyone who braved the clouds and came!
Not a fundraiser, but certainly someone who we couldn't function without is our Website designer Jeff Slough. Jeff donates his time and support for nothing, and he has the patience of a saint! The reason you can read this blog right now is all down to Jeff. He's also the brains behind our brilliant logo!
He designs and builds websites for all sorts of companies and charities, and has recently built one for our friend Sally Cooper, the Furry Dogmother.
If you are interested in having a website built or a logo designed yourself, or know anyone who needs one, pop over to his website by clicking here.
Our Christmas Party is nearly upon us!
We are currently organising our Christmas Party, to be held again this year in Northampton, on Sunday 3rd December. Tickets are available here and it is an event not to be missed!!!
Due to the success of last year's party, we have chosen to hold this years party in the same place.
Ticket price includes a buffet lunch, a gift from Santa for the hounds and children, and a mince pie or three. There will be a bar serving tea, coffee, gin and other essential beverages at very reasonable prices.
During the party we will be playing party games, there will be a raffle and stalls selling lots of lovely Christmas goodies.
We are always on the look out for people to help in every capacity... and this year, because obviously he's very busy, we need a Santa! Outfit supplied if needed...because of course you have one hanging in your wardrobe don't you? Could you help? Please email us here if you can!!
We are looking for people to join our team, this is obviously a voluntary role but we would ask for 6 months commitment initially and probably no more than a couple of hours a week at the most.
We need somebody to promote things like Easy Fundraising and other 'donate as you shop' programmes. There will be the occasional auction to run, some online raffles and any other fabulous online fundraisers you can think of.
Our little web shop needs a little TLC too so if you've got experience in marketing or research then perhaps that could be used to help find the best merchandise for us.
If you think you could help with any of this please send us an email here.
You are also most welcome to atend our Annual General Meeting, held this year on Saturday October 21st at 3pm. Please email us here for further details. We'd be delighted to discuss with you how you can help us.
Thank you to you all for your continued support!
