Prepare to meet the most gorgeous basset hound...say hello to Rupert!
Rupert is a 5 year old red and white basset hound, who is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. If you can believe it, he is even more gorgeous in the flesh! He created quite a stir at our birthday party last month!
Rupert is currently in foster with Karen and her family in Shropshire. He's been a wonderful boy, and he's looking forward to curling up with his new family very soon! Here is what Karen has to say about him;
"This extremely handsome, very sweet natured boy has been a pleasure to care for. He’s been in foster care in our busy household including our 5 dogs and a cat. He travels very well in a car and walks well on a lead. His recall is excellent.
Rupert came to us very slightly underweight, with a vivacious appetite. He’s benefited from using a go-slow feed bowl. We have kept him on a dried food, fed morning and evening, which seems to suit him.
He sleeps downstairs in his bed very happily with another dog. He’s very well socialised and thoroughly enjoys playing with his foster family. He’s met young children and has been a gentleman. He hasnever shown an interest in getting onto furniture so we’ve avoided encouraging him to do so.
Rupert needs a large garden or rural location, as he loves to spend the day outside.
I feel he would benefit from a multi dog household where he has company for most of the day. He needs a companion at night time, otherwise he will bark and cry. He has a good understanding of basic commands, but would benefit from his continued routine and encouragement. He is very keen to please and loves cuddles and praise.
He has been the perfect houseguest and honestly if we weren’t expecting a new grandchild imminently I would be keeping him!"
As you can tell from Karen's words, Rupert really is a special hound. Could he be the boy that your family needs? Can you give him love, security and trust?
We are looking for a home for Rupert which has;
- a large garden or a family who live in a rural location, as Rupert loves to be outside
- a home with at least one resident dog, to provide companionship and playmates
- patience and time to spend with Rupert in the crucial first few weeks

Rupert is subject to an adoption fee and a successful home check. If your home check is successful, your family, including your resident hounds if you have them, will need to be able to travel to his foster home to meet him and his foster family.
Please ensure you can do this before applying.
You will also have a telephone call with a member of the team, plus Rupert’s foster family, so that all of his history can be shared with you in person, and that we can be assured that you can fill all of his needs and requirements.

Rupert comes with 5 weeks free insurance via our rehoming partner, Agria.
