Merry Christmas

We are sat here wondering how it can possibly be Christmas already! We hope that you and your families are happy and healthy, and that you are ready to have some well needed time together over the festive period. We've loved seeing lots of  Christmas pictures of your bassets on our facebook page and friends group, it's cheered up the grey and rainy days! (You can join the friends and supporters group here if you are not already a member.)

We'd like to say thank you for all your wonderful help and support that you have given us this last year. It certainly hasn't been easy, and there have been a few times we've reached breaking point, but we are so fortunate that the three of us have such a strong friendship, and that your messages of support have kept us going.

We have rescued over 60 hounds this year, with a few still in our foster system. What a privilege it is to see those dogs in a happy, secure home.

We believe strongly in thanking the many people that have helped us this year, be it big or small. We can't name names, because we would be mortified if we left anyone out inadvertently, but be assured we know who you are! So, deep breath, here goes!!

Thank you to our foster team. What a wonderful job you do, taking in our neediest of hounds and treating them like your own, for the short (and sometimes long!!) times you have them for. You open your homes time and time again, and answer our call (at very inconvenient times on occasion!) to go out of your way to help us ensure the dogs are in a safe place. You are always around on our foster forum too, to give help and support to the rest of the team when it's needed, sometimes in the middle of the night!

Thank you to our network of transporters and homecheckers. Where would we be without you, travelling up and down the country, ensuring safe transport and suitable homes. Some of you have gone miles and miles out of your way this year, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Thank you in particular to our amazing friends at The Animal Rescue Auction Group, whose auction in aid of us raised £2,000. We were stunned by the response, and amazed at the total! Please pop over and support them too, the work they do for rescues like ours is fabulous, and can make all the difference.

Thank you to Joy at The Birkett-Smith Animal Sanctuary who through our friend Sam Bellamy has taken on our wonderful Navi to do some work with her so we can find her perfect home. We can't express enough thanks to Joy, as she came through when no-one else did. Please support her amazing work at the sanctuary.

Thank you to Heidi Beales, who sews her way through the year to keep our stalls topped up at events for our fundraising. She even turned her hand at bow ties and basset hound aprons for Christmas this year! We know it takes up hours of her free time, and we thank her for giving that time up for us.

Thank you to Jeff Slough, who designs and runs our website. Let's just say I'm not the easiest person to teach, but somehow Jeff has managed to get me half way there! Lately, he's put on a new shop for us to expand our merchandise in the New Year. He also gives up his free time to us, to be our Website Guru, and runs his own company, Crede Signo Websites. If you need a website, pop over and see the services he can offer.

Thank you to Pam Whitrod who supplies us with banners and cards, bags and T-shirts! She's utterly amazing and we love her to bits, if you need promotional merchandise, her business PR Print is the place to go!

Thank you to the wonderful Waddlers all over the UK who support us with their 'Pound a Hound' waddles. If you haven't been on a waddle, you must! You can find info on our facebook group, Basset Walks and Fun days UK to find a walk near you, and if you can't find one, then why not start your own! It's a great way to meet other basset owners!

Thank you to all our fundraisers - the cake makers, the dog biscuit makers, the raffle ticket buyers, the raffle donators, the little (and big) bits you do are so important to us. Special thanks go to the Bidding Page admins, for raising much needed funds. You can join the bidding page here.

We also cannot thank our friends Martin, Emily, Gill, Alan, Clare and Paul enough for doing their sponsored events in aid of us too. You can find out more about Clare and Paul's sponsored event here. They will be doing their Chain Runner event in March, and we wish them the best of luck.

We certanly can't forget the event orgainisers, Lisa and Paul for their South East Funday in Crawley, Clare for the summer waddle and BBQ in the Basset Hound Pub on the Wirral, Paula's garden party and Sasha for her online fundraiser and party in Cheshire. Diane's Memory walk for Millie also raised us money we didn't expect, but we are very grateful for. We have lots of ideas in the pipeline for next year too, and some very generous offers from people! We'll keep you informed!

Thank you to our admin team on our support pages for firing off spam before we can get to it!

Thank you to our monthly donators through our website, your help makes all the difference to us in times of need. You can donate here if you would like to.

Thank you to all our 'sharers' and cross posters on Facebook and Twitter. You're the people who share our dog's blogs every time, to help us get them to reach as big an audience as we can. You might think that a share is a tiny thing, but to that dog, it could mean finding a forever home much faster!

Thank you to our families, the ones who live with us and support us all the way. We couldn't do this without their help, and for not moaning when plans are cancelled for emergencies!

Thank you all for your friendship, your laughter, your tears and your support. What a year 2015 has been! We are looking forward to 2016 with you!

We hope you have a peaceful Christmas, and we wish you a very happy and healthy 2016.

with all our love,

Sam, Sam, Louise, Bessie, Lotty, Carly, Shirley, Ollie, Frank, Penny and Bertie.
