What could you do in 6 hours, 32 minutes and 10 seconds?
Could you run 26.2 miles?
Could you raise £2,780?
We can't believe it has been a whole week since we went up to London to support our friend and long time fosterer, Lisa in the London Marathon! We've given her a bit of time to relax and recuperate, and now we can reveal her total! And what a wonderful total it is, £2,780 which will go directly into our funds to help our bassets through their rehomings.
The entire day for us was inspiring and heartwarming, not only for the fact that we had someone running for our little charity, but for all the other runners, and the amount of charities they were all running for, it was very moving. Being part of the crowd and seeing how everyone was cheering and supporting was such an incredible experience! It was also a really hot day, and all our thoughts were with how Lisa was coping, but she did a fantastic job, and we are so, so proud of her!
Here's Lisa's thoughts on the day itself;
"So, a week has passed since the big day and I am pleased to say I didn’t suffer at all afterwards from any aches and pains, in fact I went out for a run 4 days later! I was slightly disappointed with my time because I would have like to have got close to 5 hours, but it wasn’t to be with the weather being so hot. I felt if I had pushed myself like I intended to, then I would have struggled to keep going at the later stages, so I had to pace myself from the start. Any how I completed it and that was the main thing, the crowds were absolutely amazing ,in fact I don’t think there is any other situation when you have thousands of people supporting you like they did throughout the course. The training was hard going but I really enjoyed the challenge and I am ready for the next one! Of course the best thing about it is that I managed to raise £2780 (including gift aid) for BRNGB, so thank you all for your very generous donations - I know it will go towards helping lots of hounds coming into foster who need those all important vets checks and treatment."
A huge thank you to you all who supported Lisa on her journey, from donating to cheering her on and supporting her all the way. It meant a lot to us and we know it meant a lot to Lisa.
