We hope you are all having a wonderful summer! The weather has been unbelievable, but not so great for our hounds! We hope yours are keeping themselves cool, and not suffering too much. We've seen some lovely photos of dogs keeping cool in lots of ways, from sitting in paddling pools to eating frozen carrots! Why not send us your photos of your hounds keeping cool, and we'll publish our favourites! We may even throw in a BRNGB shopping bag for our favourite ones! Email your photos to us at firstname.lastname@example.org
We look forward to seeing them!
Thank you all so much if you bought a raffle ticket to support the surgeries of two of our foster dogs. We were overwhelmed by your support and generosity, and raised a fabulous £2,295! Congratulations to our winner, Pierina. We hope she has a fabulous time, and we've asked her to take lots of pictures to share with you all!.
Of course, none of this would have been possible without the generous donation of the holiday in the first place, so we would like to thank Jane and Alan Rees-Baynes, owners of Elm Grove Country House for their amazing act of kindness. Please check out their website, the house is truly fabulous and would make a great getaway! Follow the link below to check it out, and please mention us if you make a booking!
Elm Grove Country House
We also need to say a huge thank you to Jo Bloyce, who has shown incredible support to our fundraising, and without her commitment to this raffle, and the past months Friday Coffee campaign, we wouldn't have made such an amazing amount of money. Jo has been a real asset, who has been involved in our great little band of Online fundraisers, including Jane, Sally and Steph, and has been instrumental in setting up our new Amazon Smile (see below!) and so we thought it was time to set her to work and give her an official BRNGB email!
So, please welcome Jo to our team, she's thinking all things fundraising, so if you have an idea, please contact her on email@example.com, she will be delighted to hear from you!
Have you signed up to shop with Amazon Smile? If you are an Amazon customer, you can now shop through the Amazon Smile site (which still provides all the same products) BUT...if you choose us as your charity, Amazon will give us 0.5% of your purchase! So for us, it's money for nothing!
Here is all you need to do...
- Join up on the Amazon Smile site - smile.amazon.co.uk
- Search for and choose us, Basset Rescue Network GB as your chosen charity.
- Start shopping - but make sure you are on the Amazon Smile site, and not the original Amazon site
- You'll get your shopping, and we'll get a donation!
So the next time you are shopping for your random stuff on Amazon, please think of us!
Zoe's Total Warrior
Our friend, adopter of our lovely Smokey and supporter Zoe, is really pushing herself out of her comfort zone for us! A 10k muddy obstacle course!
The beautiful Smokey
Please read her story;
"Hi, my name is Zoe, we adopted the gorgeous Smokey on 1st July 2017. His big brother Bandit was glad of his arrival as he was missing his friend of 6 years (another rescue aged 11 at time, a wee terrier named Tig). Bandit became very withdrawn and moped and pined alot. Since Smokey arrived he has gone back to his old energetic pup self. Smokey did not just fill a piece of our hearts, he also fixed a broken Bandit's heart. So I, (with Bandits gratitude) am competing in Total Warrior, which is a 10k mud obstacle course..... yes, for the first time ever, I will be rolling in the mud with the boys cheering me on..... (probably trying to join themselves). So I ask everyone, please, no matter how small, please donate to this wonderful Charity, who really do match dogs to the right families. We are all forever grateful.....the boys say it's a big "Woof" from them."
If you can support Zoe, please do, like she says, no matter how small your donation, it all adds up. Follow the link below to her page:
Thank you to all who answered our plea for foster homes, we have had lots of applications and we are in the process of completing homechecks and paperwork. If fostering is something you have thought about, have a read of this past blog in the link below, and please do get in touch.
Can You Help?
We are just beginning to take more hounds in again, after being full a few weeks ago. Currently we have 13 in foster at the moment, with another 4 expected this week.
Hounds A and B, whom we have been on a fundraising drive to fund their orthopaedic surgeries are recovering brilliantly at home with their foster carers.
We have a lovely lady who is undergoing treatment for a severe skin infection, and another who is patiently waiting for her spay after a phantom pregnancy. One of our boys is working hard on his separation anxieties.
We also have one hound who is making brilliant progress with his behaviourist after a very difficult past. Another lovely lad is awaiting an ear flush on his severely infected ears, and a possible eye operation to correct his entropion.
Who knows what will come in next?
This is why we need your support. We don't just patch them up and ship them out, we love and care for them as if they are our own, and without you, we can't do this.
Thank you, from all of us here at The Basset Rescue Network GB.
