We have the worst possible news for our boy. With shattered hearts, we have to tell you there is nothing we can do for him.
He is more comfortable today than when he was on Sunday when he came to us, but...
We have been advised today that there is a tumour in his ear, that has been growing for at least a year. For this to be operated on it would involve the removal of part of his face. Ethically we and the vets cannot allow that to happen (scan picture attached)
He is with his foster mum, and is on pain killers. We will keep him happy, warm and loved until he tells us it is time. We are being led by his foster family, the vets and Berkeley as to when that will be. We cannot allow him to be kept on this cruel world on pain killers. We do not know if he has hours, or days.
We are beyond devastated. You have shown this boy so much love, please continue to do so until he has crossed the bridge.
If you have donated to his fund or offered auction items, and wish to request your payment back, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Any funds left in his account will be transferred to the emergency vet fund for future hounds that need us just as much as the beautiful Berkeley. Obviously there are still bills to pay for this beautiful soul.
The family that surrendered Berkeley to us did not cause this, so please do not blame them.
We have done all we can for our boy, all that is left is to see his last hours are full of love.
Please help us share this devastating news
#BerkeleyArmy we salute and thank you.
