London Marathon Lisa!

BRNGB

Our fabulous friend and long time fosterer, Lisa Hudson, will be running the London Marathon this year in aid of us at Basset Rescue Network! We are all so excited to be represented in this incredible event, and we are thrilled that Lisa is going to be running the whole 26.2 miles around London on Sunday 22nd April!

Looking at the map just leaves me breathless...so I shall let Lisa tell you her story, in her own words...

"Hi my name is Lisa and I will be running London marathon 2018 for BRNGB. I am 37, a mum of two who works part time, and of course I have two basset hounds!

I am a size 16, and far from being the ideal frame for running. I have been told on numerous occasions that people are surprised that I run, being that I am 'big built'. However I do like to think that I am quite fit as I like to go to the gym, swim and run. I normally run one half marathon a years - which to be honest I struggle with. When the opportunity arose to run the full London marathon I couldn’t turn it down, I love a challenge! I am a very determined person and will do all I can to achieve a goal. for this marathon I will be following a strict training plan which means I will be running 20 to 30+ miles a week and I have to stick to this religiously.

I want to give this my all - my family and I fully support BRNGB, we have been fosterers for some time now and have recently adopted our latest basset, Bea, from them. The ladies (and now men!) that run BNRGB work tirelessly to arrange transport, fosterers, adopters, home checks and medical treatment for basset hounds in need. Most of hounds that come into the rescue need money spent on them, which can be money for a basic vet check to private medical appointments which are very costly. BRNGB are a charity and rely on donations to survive and so thats why I want to run the London Marathon to raise some much needed funds for them.

Please consider donating as little or as much as you want to make all of this gruelling training worth it to help out these needy hounds. Bassets are a beautiful breed, and if you are wondering who the beauty is on the front of my training shirt that is our boy Bertie who sadly suddenly passed away last summer age 5 of cancer, not a day goes past when we don’t think of our boy. x"

This is a once in a lifetime chance for Lisa, and possibly us too, as we may not get another chance to be represented, so please...donate as much as you can to help us raise a massive total for us to celebrate when Lisa crosses over the line! You just need to follow the link below to the official site:

Lisa's London Marathon Page

Sam, Sam and Louise will be there to watch her and cheer her on, with perhaps a basset costume in there somewhere, so watch out for that!

Lisa, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for pushing yourself through this... and we know for sure that the next basset hound that comes through our doors will be very grateful too.

Please share this blog as far and wide as you can!

Thank you!
